MAIZE, KANSAS — With the endorsements of U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, Attorney General Kris Kobach, Senate President Ty Masterson, Majority Leader Larry Alley, and Senate Vice President Rick Wilborn, Joe Claeys of Wichita announced his campaign for Kansas Senate District 27 today.

“Many may already be familiar with my brother, Sen. J.R. Claeys, who has served for 11 years in the Statehouse,” said Claeys. “While our politics are similar, our experiences that led us to public service are different.”

Claeys worked for 16 years as a School Psychologist in the Maize School District, as well as Colwich, Andale, St. Mark’s, and St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton. He continued his career in school psychology at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and Riverside Insights as a National Clinical Account Executive, and Clinical Assessment Consultant respectively. His experience in education also includes serving as an adjunct instructor at Wichita State University, teaching a graduate-level assessment course.

“There is no doubt we need more conservatives in the Statehouse with a background in education like Joe,” said Attorney General Kris Kobach. “I encourage you to support and vote for Joe Claeys for Kansas Senate.”

Joe is no stranger to the campaign trail. He has volunteered his time and energy for Republican candidates in statewide and local races in Wichita and across the state.

“Joe is a strong conservative who volunteered on my campaign,” said Kobach. “He will work hard for the people of Northwest Wichita and Maize in the Kansas Senate.”

Claeys has been a resident of the district since 1997 when he started his career in Maize. He currently lives in Wichita.

“I am humbled by the support of conservative Republican leaders,” said Claeys. “I’m looking forward to listening to voters as we go door-to-door to gather the signatures to put my name on the ballot.”

Claeys appointed as his campaign treasurer, Talia Penn, a Republican activist and wife of Rep. Patrick Penn (R-Wichita). He hired Axiom Strategies, the nation’s largest Republican campaign firm, to manage his campaign.
